Douglas Dakota (DC 3, C-47)

There isn't much that can be said about the Dak that hasn't been said elsewhere. This was the ultimate cargo/passenger aircraft of its time and is still performing its primary task sixty years after its first flight.
Commonwealth aircrew called them Daks because they were known as Dakotas in British service. Americans talk about Goony-Birds or Skytrains - As Shakespeare said- What's in a name?
